Developers Of Lake Champlain Power Line Inform Towns Of Plans

The developers of a 60-mile power line under Lake Champlain have notified towns that they plan to file with Vermont regulators to build the project.

The 400-megawatt power line will bring power from Northern New York to New Haven, Vermont. Last month, a survey of New Haven residents came out in favor of the construction of a power converter station in the town. The developers are also considered siting the converter station in Middlebury.

New Haven officials have reached a deal with the developers to provide direct payments to the town. The power line will come out of Lake Champlain in Ferrisburgh and will also travel through the town of Waltham. (Read More)
